Inspired, I signed up for a month-long yoga, metaphysics, and meditation course in Guatemala. As open-minded as I was, I found myself overwhelmed by many practices and terms I didn’t understand. I explored some things – reiki, ecstatic dance, kirtan – but I didn’t grasp their concepts, and I felt a little silly. I was a New Yorker lost in the jungle, without anything familiar to steady me. While I remained dedicated to the course, I spent my free time isolating myself and headbanging to Biggie Smalls in the meditation garden.

 

The one thing I connected to easily was sound baths. They didn’t require me to know, do, or try anything. I just had to lay down and listen. I found them comforting and restorative in a way I needed deeply. I didn’t know it at the time, but the course was a major (albeit difficult) turning point in my life, and the sound baths supported me through it.

 

Since then my spiritual journey continued with retreats at ashrams, depth psychotherapy, yoga teacher training in India, plant ceremonies, reiki certification, and meditation trainings. My greatest learning in all these years has been of the transformational power of Love, and how to cultivate and share the energy of Love.

 

In developing my plans for HOME, I returned to my love of sound baths. My desire to share this accessible practice led me to study with the Sound Healing Academy in early 2024, learning the principles of how sound permeates the body to affect us physically, emotionally and spiritually. This course taught me not only how to play the instruments, but also the science and the energetics behind its power.

 

Offering sound baths feels like completing the cycle of my entire journey thus far. I incorporate various aspects of my learnings which enhance and deepen my unique offerings. Most importantly, sound baths are an avenue for me to channel the energy of Love that has been my guide all along the way.
